Diverticulitis Surgery

My mother will be having Diverticulitis Surgery any day now. It hasn't been scheduled yet. Is there anything I can do? What will make her hospital stay more comfortable with that type of surgery?

You don't say exactly what type of operation is being contemplated - in my case I underwent a total colectomy for torrential diverticular bleeding just over five years ago.  In response to another Medhelp patient, I summarised my own experiences on Medhelp under the following posting:-

Maybe this will give you some clues regarding the post-operative experiences - always assuming, of course, that your Mother's proposed operation mirrors my own.

She has an infection. They are wanting to remove the damaged part of her colon. But now her doctor wants to wait a few days and see how she does on IV antibotics. The surgeon want to do the surgery. This is her second attack.
