Diverticulitis attacks

by weas, May 14, 2002 12:00AM
I am 31 years old I was first diagnosed with divirticulitis at the age of 24 I perforated when I was 29 they removed half of my large intestine and part of my colon and they did a reattachement.  Since the surgery I have had at least 2 attacks this last one is lasting longer than usual with a fever nauseau constipation and swelling on my left side as well as back pain I went to a doctor and he told me that the back pain and fever was a result of the previous doctor not wanting to give me pain medication to put my colon to sleep.  I am still experiencing back pain nauseau and the pain seems to have travelled to my right side what does this mean?.

It sounds like you might have an infection. If your doctor is not helping you get a second opinion! Did a colo-rectal surgeon perform the surgery? I wouldn't trust any other kind of surgeon for anything related to the colon or rectum.
