I was having a bout of constipation accompanied by severe left lower quadrant pain that ended me up in the emergency room. After a quick look over I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and sent home with a prescription for Cipro. I was told I would be contacted shortly to return to the hospital for a barium enema for confirmation. I am a 41 year old male.
I am in a lot of pain but I have no fever. Cramps are coming and going. I took some prune juice and that certainly got my intestines moving. Had the runs instead of being constipated. It hasn't really relieved the pain but I am only on day 2 of the Cipro. I haven't been eating, just liquids. I am wondering what I should be taking for the pain? H!ow long will I have to deal with this pain?
