Diverticulitis reoccurance?

I was recently diagnosed with Diverticulitis about 3 weeks ago by CT scan.  I was given Flagyl and Cipro for 7 days.  Immediately the symptoms cleared up.  But I started getting the side affects from the antibiotics.  Severe diarrhea.  I have finished the antiobiotics about 2 weeks ago.  Pain has come back and I'm now having pale mucus in my stool.  This occurred when I had the diverticulitis attack but now it appears its back?  Is this another attack or will it just take a while to get back to normal?

Hi guys
Just wanted to give an update... Called the Dr. and was put back on Cipro and Flagyl for 14 days.  The pain continued to increase in the LLQ like a sharp knife.  Dr. said that is exactly where the inflammation is.  Now have to do a colonoscopy.  But the side affects (severe D) from the Flagyl are so bad that I cannot go to work.  Its actually worse than the sharp pain from the inflammation.  I know this is the drug that will help, but does anyone have any advice getting through the Flagyl course??  I ordered Flora Q and Digestive advantage for Colitis.  Hopefully this will help.  Any advice???

Sue357 is correct.  If the pain is back you much call the doc.
Make sure you call soon as this is not something to play with.  The colon can rupture and then you really would be in trouble.  But your doc will be able to help you keep from that happening if you let him know each time it comes back.

Good luck

Hi.  I went through multiple episodes of Diverticulitis last year.  If the pain has come back and you have finished the meds, I would call your doc.  Sometimes, they told me, it takes a few times of the meds to clear it up.
