Diverticulitis

I would like to hear from someone who suffers from IBS and Diverticulitis.
I have had both recently and have had antbiotics but it has left me feeling tender and bloated.

I have IBS and my mom has the diverticulitis.
Both are very nasty conditions to have to suffer with.
Can't eat half of the food we used to eat...meaning we can't eat anything we don't cook for ourselves. lol
With the IBS it gets worse over time...I constantly spend entire nights in the bathroom...when the diarrhea hits, I feel like I'm in labour. When I'm constipated I sweat something awful, get anxiety attacks, and start to hyperventilate...such a wonderful life it is.

With the diverticulitis, my mom eats and then runs to the washroom within 5 minutes. Food just seems to pass right through her.

I'm truly sorry for you to have to suffer with both conditions. My heart goes out to you.

Thank you so much for replying. I have not had Diverticulitis for sometime, and then out of the blue I got a very sore tummy and it was on the right hand side then as it got worse it went to the left as well. I was on antibiotics and that cleared it up but have only been off them for 2 weeks and it is sore on both sides again. I go see the Doctor next week and then am waiting for a colonoscopy  I have changed to a more alkaline diet, and that seems to help
I am so sorry to hear that you and your Mother suffer from the same.
Are you in pain most of the time? Do you take antibiotics to help clear it up.

Almost every single day of my life at least one of the symptoms will cause me grief.
There is no escape from it, no pill helps it, no surgery that can cure it.
I try to stick to a very bland diet...nothing fried, no grease, no margarine, no corn or anything that contains corn or corn oil...I only eat at home, as then I know exactly what I'm eating, otherwise I live in the washroom.
I rarely try any new foods, as this always seems to trigger an attack. I make sure to eat a salad at least once a week...if I don't then my body seems to forget it's had that sort of roughage before and goes into diarrhea mode. lol

Hope you feel better soon.
