I am having my 6 ERCP tomorrow to have ANOTHER stentAbdomen - swollen Brain herniation Chronic persistent hepatitis Coronary artery stent Hyperemesis gravidarum Lyme disease - chronic persistent Stent placed in my pancreatic duct.
This has been going on since Nov.2007. I was at work sitting at my desk when all of a sudden I felt like I had been hit by a train, I went to the doctor they ran a bunch of test and scheduled more. Turns out my spincter in the bile duct did not work so it was cutCuts and puncture wounds out during my 1st ERCP and my firstFirst progesterone mc10 First progesterone mc5 First-progesterone vgs 100 First-progesterone vgs 200 First-progesterone vgs 25 First-progesterone vgs 400 First-progesterone vgs 50 First-testosterone First-testosterone mcstentAbdomen - swollen Brain herniation Chronic persistent hepatitis Coronary artery stent Hyperemesis gravidarum Lyme disease - chronic persistent Stent placed, I felt better. ERCP again 2 months later to remove stent. 3RD ERCP 3 months later bile duct closed again bigger stent left for 3 months. 4TH ERCP to remove stent. Called GI doctor 3 months later having issues again, issues include constipation, severe pain, vomiting, weight loss, dizziness. My GI doc reffered me to a another GI whom is concidered a specialist, by this time I have had 4 ERCP's, been hospitalized to control pain and due to being dehydrated about 5 times, also by now its Dec 2008 over a year later. In Jan. 2009 I am hospitalized for an infection in my stomach doc is worried will go to my blood stream. Feb. 2009 I have my 5th ERCP and this time the doc places a stent in my Pancreatic Duct, I felt like I could run the Boston Marathon in 2 minutes flat! About 2 months later the stent fell out (was suppose to) so now its the first of June 2009 and I got out of the hospital today been there 2 days and I am having my 6TH ERCP tomorrow to place a larger stent into my Pancreatic Duct that will last longer. One of the partners with my GI specialists came into to see me in my hospital room last night to talk to me about diet, smoking etc. I am overweight have since the birth of my boys which the are teens now, I have lost 50 during the last 6 months but within the last month I have lost 10. I am unable to eat anything, eating makes the pain and constipation so much worse and even if I am not constipated I have the most painful bowel movements (much worse than giving birth) Colonoscipy turned out fine, my liver enzymes and other blood test are normal most of the time. But I have now been told that my Pancreas scarred and they are dignosing me with Cronic Pancreantitis so when this stent falls out, I will be sent to a Pain Management Clinic, I have been on pain medicine the intire time. I am so frustrated at this point I could scream. I am a single mom who works a full time job and after my last ERCP I felt so good I signed up to go back to school. I have days I hurt so bad I can barely get out of bed, my skin and eyes turn yellow, I vomit blood and there is blood often in my stool. I have been told that almost always this leads to Pancreatic Cancer.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. At this point my quality of life ***** so bad.
Sprout, I'm sorry to hear what you've been going through. There may be other options that I'm not aware of, but in many cases if the pancreas is terribly damaged, some doctors will discuss a Whipple procedure. There are several different types of the procedure, but you may want to read up on it and discuss it with your doctor. It's not an easy operation, but depending upon the case and the extent of the problem it might be something to look into.
