Duodenal ulcer

I care for my 87 yr old mother. She had a large gi bleed with emesis and melena stools due to a duodenal ulcer in mid-July and came home yesterday.  Ulcer treated by cautery and epi and 6 units of blood.  Before discharge she still had 3 pos hemocult tests which would have been 3 weeks after bleed.  Hgb runs 7.5 to 8.0 and she is not symptomatic at that low level. Dr. says will transfuse again if goes below 7.  Walks around fine. No nausea or pain. Stools dark brown (takes vitamins).  Is this the ulcer still bleeding or scar tissue sloghing from cautery giving the pos result? Only other health prob is asthma.  Takes advair, albuterol, singular, lasix, potassium, multivits, and now protonix.  Any concerns with any of these meds for causing a new ulcer problem?  Thank you for your help.
