EGD Results

I recently had an EGD.  The results showed diffuse erythema with many small hemorrhages in the body of the stomach.  The doctor biopsied the distal esophagus and the antrum.  I received a call from her office stating that the biopsies were negative.  My question is what should I do about the inflammation and hemorrhages?  I had been taking an 81mg aspirin a day until 2 weeks prior to the procedure.  I had also started taking metformin.  The metformin was causing me to have many GI symptoms including pain, nausea and constipation.  I am not sure what I should do now.  The metformin was prescribed to treat insulin resistance, I don't have diabetes.  I was taking aspirin because of a previous TIA.  My stomach feels fine now.  Should I start taking those medications again if they are causing me to have stomach inflammation and hemorrhages?   Which one is the likely culprit (aspirin or metformin or the combination of aspirin and metformin)?  I had no stomach symptoms before the metformin. Thank you in advance for your time.
