ELEVATED SGOT AND SGPT LEVELS

by WAGO, Dec 11, 2001 12:00AM
I AM A 39 YEAR OLD MALE .RECENTLY I HAD SOME BLOOD WORK DONE AND FOUND OUT THAT MY SGOT WAS 80 AND MY SGPT WAS 113.  IN MARCH MY RESULTS WERE SGOT 21 AND SGPT 35.  I HAVE BEEN WORKING OUT VERY SERIOUSLY WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER AND WORKED OUT HARD THE NIGHT BEFORE.  I HAVE ALSO BEEN SUPPLEMENTING WITH MYOPLEX PROTEIN SHAKES AND HAD ONE BEFORE MY BLOODTESTS.  I FEEL GOOD , DRINK ONLY SOCIALLY , AND USE NO MEDICATION EXCEPT ADVIL WHEN NEEDED.  IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT MY CHOLESTEROL IS NOW HIGH ( 240 ) LDL ( 162 ) .  MY DOCTOR WANTS ME TO START LIPITOR OR ZOCOR AFTER I WAIT 30 DAYS FOR A LIVER RETEST.  MY QUESTION IS , IS THE WEIGHT
TRAINING A PROTEIN SHAKES A POSSIBLE CAUSE FOR THE ELEVATED TESTS. OBVIOUSLY I AM CONCERNED WITH THESE ENZYME LEVELS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR RESPONCE.  THANKS .
