Could it have been Giardia? My cat's are just getting over that! I've had them on antibiotics for a month now. Nasty bug.
Well now you know so you can get the proper treatment. See, I told you God would watch over you and you'd be ok! Glad to hear back from you. Thanks for letting us know how things went. Best wishes now to you for a speedy recovery. God bless.

Don't be nervous at all!! I had one last Thursday along with a colonoscopy at the same time. I am 53 yrs old. I didn't fall asleep from the anthesia (I'm very hard to put to sleep) and I went thru both procedures along with 2 biopsies and them opening an obstruction and removing a polyp and was just fine, no pain, just a full feeling from the air they put in. Within minutes, I farted once, drank some water and went home, no drowsiness or anything. They said to take it easy for 2 days and eat a soft diet to start with. Well, I was feeling great and very hungry so I made my mom and daughter stop at Hometown Buffet and I ate everything in sight. So go ahead and use your worrying for something else!! Let us know how it went.

Please stop worrying! Endoscopies are pretty routine and I've NEVER heard of anyone dying during this procedure! I know in the clinic I went to they do like 30 a week?! Something like that.
I know what it's like to be scared and nervous. I used to be pretty bad at worrying but God's been working on me! :) I do a lot better now than I used to. I've had two surgeries in the last three years and two colonoscopies. Just a few weeks ago I too had an endoscopy and colonoscopy so I will tell you what to expect and hopefully make you feel a little better! :)

First of all, they don't put you completely under anesthesia like they do with surgery. So your body is still in control like with your breathing and stuff. They give you what they call a conscious sedation. This means that you are very relaxed and sleepy but can respond if they were to ask questions, etc. However, you won't remember a thing! Really, it's a piece of cake. The worst part of the whole procedure is not being able to eat or drink before hand. You do have to have your stomach empty. They will have you come in and put on a hospital gown and lay down on your left side on the hospital bed. They will try and make you as comfortable as possible with a pillow and blankets. They wil explain everything they're doing. They will put an IV in your arm to administer the drugs through, also to keep you hydrated with fluids. There's usually at least one RN along with the Gastro doc plus a technician. They will moniter your heart rate, breathing, etc. throughout the procedure, which only lasts 10 to 15 minutes by the way! They will give you a combination of drugs to relax you and make you sleepy. Then they will insert the tube down your throat and begin viewing everything. Don't worry that you will choke or stop breathing. This is not going down your breathing tube, it's going down your eating tube! To put it in laymans terms, lol. You shouldn't feel a thing or remember a thing.

Yes, they make you sign a paper that can scare you because it talks about the risks. They make you do this any time you have a procedure done. They made my 19 year old son do this when he got his wisdom teeth out. This is just standard procedures, they have to do it. When I asked the doctor about the risks, he said there's less than 1% chance of risk with this procedure and that's usually with people who tend to have a reaction to medications or who already have an underlying medical poblem, like heart problems or something. You are a healthy young man so you've got a lot going for you. Young people always do better in procedures and surgeries than older people. Don't let that silly paper scare you. Just ignore it and remind yourself that this is just that small percentage of people who are usually older people with other health problems not healthy young people like you.
Does any of this help at all? I totally understand being scared! I've been there over and over. But as I've gotten older, I've learned to just give it all to God and trust Him to take care of me. I don't think He's going to take me before He's ready for me! I think I have more to do on this earth still! That's how I think anyway.

I hope that I've been able to ease your mind somewhat. Get some rest tonight. Before you know it, the procedure will be over and you'll be so relieved. And you'll be able to eat! :) This is the best way for them to be able to see and diagnose what's going on so that they can best help you. You'll be ok, trust me! And we want to hear back from you when you get your test results back too, so write back and let us know how you are, ok! I'll say a prayer for you tomorrow that you can be at peace and not worry! God bless!
