ERCP related to catching a cold?

by mahul, Jun 22, 2008 10:47AM
I had a ERCP done recently. This is my 3rd one. Last time the doctor had given thru IV anitbiotics. This time i had the ERCP done at a diff hospital and the doc says anitbiotics are not required.

I developed a Cold after the ERCP. Although it is summer i am not quite sure how this would be related. I never had any symptoms before the ERCP. THe very next day after my ERCP i started to feel like i had low grade temp and now 3 days later i have a bad cold.

Wonder if this is related in any way?  Has anyone experienced this?

Colds are due to viruses. Antibiotics do not work on viruses.

You should probably give the doc a call if you're still running a fever - just to let him know what's going on.

I agree with CalGal - it is not likely that your ERCP had anything to do with getting a cold, just coincidence and bad luck unfortunately.
