Effects of Cannabis after Acute Pancreatitis

Effects of Cannabis after Acute Pancreatitis

I recently had an ERCP done which resulted in an attack of acute pancreatitis.  There was no necrosis, and my numbers have been stable for 6 days now (out of hospital for 2 days).  I am slightly sore, but otherwise fine.  I do, however, still have nausea (reason for ERCP) which I like to treat with cannabis.  My question is whether or not this is safe after the attack.  I have read differing ideas online.  I don't want to go into any more of my history, and would just like a straight answer.

Thank you

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  The straight answer to your question of whether or not it is safe, is that it probably is safe.  However, if the cannabis made you eat more, this could irritate your pancreas.  You make it very difficult to answer your question when you are asking someone on an online community that isn't your doctor so I don't know your full medical history, doesn't have a medical degree, and you aren't willing to give any more of your history (for example why you had the ERCP in the first place may affect my answer to your question).  However, I worry that you are asking this question online because you are unwilling to ask your doctor this question because cannibis is most likely illegal where you live.  This means if you see your doctor again with other problems, you will be lying to them about your medical history and this could negatively affect you.  These are just assumptions so correct me if I am wrong.  Also I'm sure your doctor would be willing to prescribe a medicine like zofran which is great for nausea (although it is expensive).
