Effects of alcohol on GI tract

Could a malabsorption syndrome caused by alcohol also produce chronic stomach discomforts like more than usual gas, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation?

Alcohol can have a very deleterious effect on the pancreas which could contribute to a number of the symptoms you're listing. It can also impact the liver and produce symptoms, and in addition it can cause problems in the stomach which would effect the 1st step in digestion and therefore change all the other steps and produce symptoms.
