Effects of radiation on the esophagus

by jvwindmu, Jan 21, 2002 12:00AM
After having a small tumor removed from the g-e junction, my husband has gone through chemo plus 5 weeks of radiation.  It's been 2 weeks since he finished radiation and still cannot get much down, including puddings, baby food, etc.  He continues to lose weight.  What can he expect?  We know of no one who has gone through this.  How long does it take the esophagus to heal?  Also, he spits a lot...is that normal?
