Elevated Liver Enzyme Question

by cynatnite, Aug 25, 2001 12:00AM
My husband and I just found out his liver enzymes are high.  My husband rarely drinks and he tested negative for hepatitis.  After doing some research I found out that tylenol can cause this.

For the last couple of years he has taken an enourmous amount of tylenol and I think this might be the reason.  He is due to return for another blood test in a month and a half.

My question is:  How much tylenol will cause liver damage and if he discontinues taking it, will the enzymes return to normal?  That is if this is the cause.

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Tylenol can cause elevated liver enzymes. The only way to know for sure is to discontinue the tylenol and re-test in 5-6 weeks.
