Elevated Liver enzymes and Positive RH Factor

Elevated Liver enzymes and Positive RH Factor

Feb 2008, at the age  of 47 (Female), I was admitted into the hospital for gall stones, elevated liver and pancreatic enzyemes. After my gall bladder was removed and 3 ERCP, I had a stent placed in a bile duct for drainage. My liver enzymes are still not normal after 10 months. They are continually fluctuating back/forth, in particular my Alk Phos. Now "suddenly", they have found that I have an elevated Rheumtoid Factor and Anti CCP level. Is there ANY chance that a obstructed bile duct could lead to elevating these other factors or am I looking at two diseases occuring at the same time?

At this time there's no direct relationship that's found between the two conditions, so it's likely that you're dealing with two separate issues.

However, there is one screwy issue that may or may not fit in and in some way link the two issues...........there are some papers out showing that 'obstructive' jaundice actually 'tamps' down the problems with RA. They're only starting to look at the mechanism and it appears to work though fatty acids, but I'm not sure the work has gone far enough to say exactly what's going on. The same correlation is seen in pregnancy - someone gets pregnant and the RA is ameliorated.
