Elevated liver enzyme

by Husker, May 29, 2001 12:00AM
Recent blood tests indicated everything is normal, within normal ranges except one liver enzyme, GGTP.
SGOT (AST)      23  normal range 0 to 41
SGPT (ALT)      41  normal range 0 to 45
GGTP           108  normal range 0 to 65

I am 68 years old, retired, feel great, exercise a little, mostly boat, fish etc.  I drink no hard liquor but usually have  three or four Bush light beers most every day. I am under treatment for slightly elevated blood pressure, 150/81 usually, amd take Hytrin and Zestril, one each per day.

Should I be concerned?  Is there a long range consequence for the GGTP to remain elevated as it is now?  What effect will this elevated liver enzyme have on liver function, or body function in the long run?  If this is a concern, what should I do to lower the enzyme level?  Thank you.  Frank
