Emergency Surgery and Colstomy Reversal

Emergency Surgery and Colstomy Reversal

I am 35 years old. A few months after I had a C-section for the first time I started experiencing low left pain in my abdomen. At first, I was check for all things related to female issues I guess due to the area where the pain was felt and the fact I recently had a baby. I would have the reoccurring pain on a cycle every month for a few days for about six months. Finally, I was given antibiotics and a told it was diverticulitis. I was shocked to have this at my age and never having prior problems.  I took the antibiotics and hoped it would go away but the next month the pain came back. This time the pain was worse than ever and I ended up in the ER  with a tear in my sigmoid colon. I had emergency surgery and woke up with a colostomy bag after the surgery. I had the reversal surgery in March 2010. The problem i am facing now is I am very bloated every day. Some days worse than others but when I say bloated I mean to the point that sometimes I look pregnant again! I have been back and checked by my Gastro Dr. I had a sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and endoscopy. I am eating health and exercising regularly and including fiber in my diet etc..but some days the gas and bloating is painful and very uncomfortable. I do not have a blockage according to all the test. I do have a hiatal hernia and GERD. I am taking the medication for the acid as suggested by my dr along with probiatics and Miralax as well. Please if anyone has any suggesting of something to help with this or if anyone else experienced this any help would be appreciated! Thanks....

You may want to consider the possibility of food intolerance issues. Try tracking with a food diary and see if any specific foods or food groups cause more issues than others. Then try an exclusion diet to see if you're on the right track.
