Enlarged Pancreatic Head

by Lynda241, Feb 14, 2009 07:08AM
I have had high blood pressure awhile. My docters say its anxiety. I finally got on a medicine that has it under control..except when i get scaired or nervous then it sky-rockets like in Drs. offices.  But it is better with the help of a low dose of Zanaz when needed.  I've had many tests everything is O.K.  I finally had one last test to check for  Hypertension and Evaluation of adrenal tumor.     I hate to spend more money for a MRI if not needed.  My Medical docter said to ask someone in Gastroenterolgy.  He said the MRI may not be necessary.   I've spent so much money on tests I'm waiting for your opininon.  I had CT abdomen with and with-out IV contrast  .   Results.....There is no adrenal masses but there is some slight thickening of the medial limb of the left adrenal gland probably from focal hyperplasia.  Small hiatal hernia.  The lung bases are other wise clear.  There are bilateral breast prostheses.  Too small to caterize hypodensity is seen within the mid left hepatic lobe. There is no renal collecting system dilatation.  There is a enlargement of the pancreatic head measureing 4.7 x3.6 cm. There is no abnormal enhancement.  There is a small sliver of a pericardial effusion.     There is a nonobstructing 1-2 mm lower pols right renal calculus.   IMPRESSION:    1. Some slight thickening of the medial limb of the left adrenal gland without discrete mass.      2. Enlargement of the Pancreatic head warrents furthur evaluation,  Consider MRI for better characterization.  Also correlation with Pancreatic Enzymes.       Thats it !    I have no pains.  I dont drink. Is it really necessary to have a MRI.  What is the size of a normal Pancreatic Head.  My MD. said there is no obvious risks. and no symptons.  Please give me your opinion.  Im 56 yrs old and going broke with medical bills.  Happy Valentines Day.  Lynda
