Enough of a reason to see a Gastroenterologist?

Hi Everyone,

A few weeks ago I noticed a white buildup on my tongue and through research found that it could be because of candida (yeast infection).  I started taking an herbal supplement recommended to me which stated it fought both candida and parasites.  While taking it, I noticed these little white, rice-like specs in my stool.  Also noticed that my stool was noticeably darker.  With more research, I found those specs could be a sign of parasites, specifically tape-worm.
I just moved to the SF Bay Area and don't have a primary physician yet, so instead I went ahead and made an appointment with a Gastroenterologist.  My question is simple: Is this too little of a reason to see a GI?  I've never been to one, but I know gastroenterologists are more adept at things like crohn's disease and colon cancer and whatnot.  Does the possibility of parasites and candida fall into the realm of what a gastroenterologist deals with, or am I wasting their (and my) time?

Thanks,
Chad

Any changes in your stool should be checked out by a Gastro doc, and they do know best when it comes to intestinal parasites.  He'll get paid for his time, and you can't put a price on your health.  Keep your appt. and take care.
