Esophageal Spasms? GERD?

by Starbright5, May 16, 2008 02:37PM
I was dianosed with Esophageal Spasms. What are the chances of me developing GERD?

My symtoms are:

Feeling full before or after a meal (depending)
Neck spasm, that goes all the way down to my esophagus
Tension like headache from the muscle tightness
back aches
joint pain
sore throat (do to the muscle tightness) Causing sinus infections, and sore throats more often than normal.
Waking up out of my sleep some nights do to  the spasm of my neck
Having to sleep on my back bc i feel as though i can't breathe do to the spasm

Sometimes the spasm end up all over, down my leg and ect. Also when I run and do normal activity, i feel almost winded, and then i get really sore. I randomly have sore spots on my body do to the muscle aches, it's very annoying
And more...

Anyone actually have GERD?

I was dianosed with Esophageal spasms in 2006. Been on medication since May 06.

And I would like to know a little bit more about GERD. They find my case to be related more toward anexity so i take medication for that do to the espohageal spasm, also some Previcid for my stomach, i suppose so it doesn't lead to something more serious.

Anyone?

I can't say it's 'typical,' however it's more usual to find someone with GERD who goes on to develop esophageal spasms. You may want to find out if you do have GERD but aren't experiencing the typical outward manifestations of the problem.

There are conditions in which one has esophageal spasms without having GERD however.
