for many years, it now has worsened to the point where it is chronic. I had a CT scan with contrast and everything came out okay plus all blood test came out okay. My doctor did not go any further. I am still experiencing everyday a lump
and slight pain in the center of my check. I also have a heinal Hernia. Should I see my doctor again or is it diet. I have given up all the foods related to irritating the esphogasis. I am also on Prevacid once a day.
emptying, etc. When at the GI, the first thing you should request is an upper endoscopy to ensure that you don't have any inflammation or anything worse there.
The thing with Prevacid (and any other acid reflux medication, for that matter) is that after a certain point you may become immune to its effects. I used to be on Prevacid (which didn't work very well for me to begin with), then after it stopped working completely, I switched to Nexium. It's been a world of difference, with heartburn affecting me no more than twice per week, and that, generally, only if I overeat.
What you're experiencing with the lump in the throat is an effect of something called LPRD, which is like GERD, but for the upper esophageal sphincter.
