My wife has been suffering with excess saliva for 3 years and needs help. Her symptoms are: around 10am each day excess salvia begins - just pooring out - which she is required to swallow continuously. Around 2-3pm she begins to become nausious. Gets so bad she has to go to bed and drug herself to sleep around 7 or 8 pm
. Upon waking she is fine. Next day starts all over again. She has been test neurologically with negative results, gastro doc says it comes from stomach and has diagnosed gastroparesis
says has heard of it (water brash) but knows of no treatment. She had dental surgery about the time this started - a scrapping of the gums - but oral surgeon says its not related. Retired ENT
health-type drugs for depression and anxiety - which allow her to sleep. Her psychiatrist says drugs cannot be problem. Anyone have any idea that we haven't thought of? Any help would be appreciated.
She has had MRI for neurological study; upper GI w/negative results; "Smart Pill" endosocopy (leave monitoring pill to diagnosis digestion) unfortunately there was too much fluid in stomach (after 18 hrs of fasting); a fluid digestion study, and a food digestion study, She has severe anxiety and depression which both existed years prior to the saliva. She had a bone density test indicating, osteoprosis for which she takes Fosamax. Her teath were moving apart. For this, she had an oral surgery during which her teeth were scraped near the root. Now has that done every 3 months. (This initial surgery was around the time the saliva started) She has had a root canal recently.
Do you know if the fluid in her stomach was found to be acid or bile, or?
Has her gallbladder been checked. In some, there is a connection between gastroparesis and gallbladder issues. I know that water brash is typically associated with acid reflux, but I'm wondering if there might be something more going on here.
What meds is she on? Is there any history of diabetes or sugar problems?
Is she currently following a suggested diet for gastroparesis? And cutting way, way, way back on fats?
