Excruciating rectal pain/bleeding/protrusion/graphic image

Hopefully I can get some advice here.  I've been having sporadic rectal bleeding for two years now.  The first time, I was admitted to ICU.  I have not had any pain associated with this until about two weeks ago.  Since then, I've had excruciating pain almost all of the time.  The pain is so sever when I defecate, that I dread having to do it.  It started to feel like something was protruding during and after defecation.  I looked the other day and saw a whole bunch of strange stuff protruding from my rectum.  I took some pictures, but unfortunately, it looks like I can't add a picture here.  I did make a post in the general gastro. forum with a picture.  If you could please look at that post and picture I would greatly appreciate it as a picture tells a thousand words.  It is under my screen name pain_in_the_rear and I posted it yesterday.

I assumed this was just hemorrhoids but after viewing the protrusion, I'm not so sure and a little bit scared.  The pain has almost put me in tears on a number of occasions.

Again, I wish I could post a picture here.  But, since I can't, please view the picture in my post in the public gastro forum as I'm sure looking at it will tell you exactly what my problem is.

Thanks

Sincerely

SB

I cannot make specific diagnoses over the internet.

That said, in general, symptoms similar to yours can be due to hemorrhoids, an anal fissure, rectal prolapse, or the worst case, a mass or cancer.

Pain is typically associated with an anal fissure, but you have to exclude the latter two causes first.

I definitely would discuss this with your personal physician, and I suggest consulting a surgeon for further evaluation.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

I take it you never even looked at the picture.

Thanks for nothing.  I concluded as much myself.  What a waste of sixteen bucks.
