Extreme abdominal water retention

Extreme abdominal water retention

Hello,
My sister suddenly bloated last Feb and by April looked 9 mo pregnant. She finally had WATER removed (5 liters) and it test negative for cancer. She can hardly walk or dress herself, claims to have no pain and still has an appetite.

She was advised last week to see a gynocologist.
What should she be doing?
Thanks.

If she had fluid removed from her abdomen, she *probably* had ascites which is a very common symptom of liver disease. Has she had all the hepatitis tests and liver panels? As a general rule, ascites needs to be controlled with a sodium and fluid restricted diet. I would advise she sees a gastroenterologist.
