Extremely high ALT/AST

I am 38 years old 5'5 and 295lbs. I just gave birth to my son 12 weeks ago. While I was at the hospital my liver enzymes were slightly elevated after his birth ALT 78 AST 53. 2 days ago I went to the hospital for what I thought was chest pain, turns out it was gallstones. They then said my liver was enlarged and my liver enzymes are ALT 176 and AST 249! I am terrified that I am very sick! I never drank or did drugs I am not on any medication nor do I take any over the counter medicine. i was tested for all the hepatitis's when pregnant. I just had more blood drawn today and a CT scan of the abdomen. Of course I have to wait till next week for results. I can't stop crying. Is there anyone out there like me? I am sick with worry...

hi.  do a liver cleanse.  the elevated numbers are not that bad.  doctors don't keep it into perspective i.e. my boyfriends was 345 and fell to 220, they didn't see it was good & took out his liver.  irregardless, the chest pain is likely dehydration.  if you weigh that much, you likely need a colon cleanse, it would make you feel so much better.  the other thing too that makes us gain so much is paras, and bacteria in our intestines. might be something to think about.  if you clean out, you will feel good; i know, it's depressing to go to docs and for them to tell you 'nothing'.  I just found out i had an intestinal bacteria that has ruined my past 5 years;  i'm starting to live now; but no help from the docs.  i wish you luck; clean from the inside as you would on the out!

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  Have you spoken to a gastroenterologist about this?  The gallstones could be causing the liver problems so I wouldn't worry too much about your liver.  For now, there is no need to worry until you get all of the test results back.  Also, people who are overweight are at a higher risk for gallstones.  The chest pain is almost surely from the gallstones, not from dehydration.  I would recommend against a liver cleanse currently until you know fully what is going on.
