Failed sigmoidoscopy

After some rectal bleeding I was recently sent for a sigmoidoscopy whch unfortunatel failed when the doctor after many attempts was unable to observe my lower bowel, she thought this was probably due to old scarring I had from a oophorectomy ten years ago.  She told me they needed to rule out cancer and so asked for an urgent ct scan of the large bowel and adomon.  I have just had the report back and nothing sinister was revealed, I do have diverticular disease of the sigmoid but no colonic mass.  I have since been told that diverticula disease accounts for most bleeds of this nature. As you can imagine I'm hugely relieved.

trust me you will be relieved after the colonoscopy, its worth it, just do it. I just had one last month and the night before i did get really nervous about it, almost canceled,  all the prep work you have to do is the worst part, but the actual procedure was easy, i was knocked out and woke up and felt like nothing ever happened, I had an EGD at the same time. I was happy they ruled our cancer, but still a little annoyed I was unable to find out what was wrong with me. my advise though is to just do it and get it over with.

Hi, it is great to hear about your wonderful news. I am 33 and I have red sometimes red and darker red and sometimes really dark. I am scared to death of colon cancer. I have some abdominal pain about 2 fingers up above belly button and to the right and 2 fingers.  I am very nervous. I have had this red in bowel movements for like over a year. What does the diverticula feel like. I went to a rectal and colon dr and he said for my age was very unlikely colon cancer but wanted to do a colonoscopy, well I didn't go because I am sooooooo nervous. was hoping maybe you could help me a little.
