So I went on a vacation last year June '08 and since I've come back my digestive system has not been the same. At first it was constant nausea, weeks at a time, then it would go away for weeks and then come back. No diarrhea or vomitting. Lasted from June '08 until approx October '08. Saw a few doctors, prescribed some medicine, but no further investigation because it always happened that I'd have a Dr. appt on the day I was feeling fine. So this past April '09 I went on another vacation and was sick the entire time! Knotty stomach, barely could eat, cramps, nausea. The day after we got back I was FINE ... so I chalked that up to anxiety about what happened on the last trip. About a month later it happened again. Except not so much nausea anymore, but stomach cramping, fullness, bloating. I would eat the smallest thing, feel full then an hour later be so hungry. I have been feeling a lot more jittery and stuff too. After that episode (of about 1 week) went away I thought ok, this is it. Made appt's with my primary and my GI again. Not even 3-4 weeks later here I am going on week 2 of symptoms. Also, this past weekend (Sat & Sun) I was barely eating because I didn't feel good, yet I was having bowel movements like crazy, approx. 10 each day. Normal bowel movements. A few did look like they had little clots of blood in them, that's what it looked like to me. I couldn't sleep, felt very anxious, nervous, stomach was in knots.
I had an Upper GI X-Ray yesterday and I get the results this afternoon. I am nervous. I'm not sure if these issues are from my feeling so anxious or whatnot. I can barely eat. I will start to eat and then be so jittery I have to get up and walk around. I am seeing my primary for a referral to mental health specialist just for the anxiety.
Do you have ANY idea how to fix this? They did mention during my Upper GI that my digestion was very fast. I'm assuming that's why I'm hungry all the time. Nothing I eat seems to satisfy my stomach. Could this be a worm/parasite? Could they live in your body for a year? Could this be something I picked up while on vacation last year (I vacationed in '08 to New Orleans, LA)
