One month ago, I had an abdominal ultrasound. It was "
normalNormal saline flush". Regarding my liver, the actual report reads "The liver is unremarkable".
Due to some continued digestion issues, I just had an abdominal CT scan with and without contrast. That, too, came back "
normalNormal saline flush" with one exception -
fattyXanthoma liver.
I have had my liver enzymes checked three times in the last six months - always
normalNormal saline flush. In fact, I have bloodwork 1-2x per year and they are always
normalNormal saline flush.
I have had my abdomen examined by multiple physicians - not once has anyone indicated anything about my liver.
So, this CT report has caught me off guard. I did drink socially and often for a couple years, but quit a few months ago. Not a drop since. I have also lost 15 pounds in an effort to get into better shape.
My main two questions are:
1) If this was only picked up on the CT and my numbers are
normalNormal saline flush, is it possible that my liver may not be all that "fatty" yet?
2) I have read that the liver is impressive on healing itself (somewhat) over time with proper diet and exercise. Is that true?
3) Is there any other testing that should be done on my liver or should I just stay sober, eat right and exercise?
Thanks!
