Fistula?

Fistula?

I am at a loss...I will start from the beginning.  I was diagnosed 4 years ago with an anorectal abscess.  It had to be lanced, drained and packed everyday for 2 months.  It healed properly.  Just recently, in march 2010 I had another occurrence.  This time it was not caught in time.  I became septic and it ended up bursting.  I had to have surgery, a tube inserted for 4 days to allow for any additional draining.  The tube was removed and the part that burst healed with in a month.  But, ever since then I have had something going on where the abscess burst.  I feel the initial pain as if it is the abscess coming back, with in 2-3 days, the sight must open for I have discharge coming out of it.  It normally is pus.  This month however, it happened when I was due for my menstruation cycle.  I had the beginning stages of a menstrual cycle out of this sight.  Then it was bright red blood.  I am a little worried, well very worried.  Could this be a fistula reoccurring every month?  Please help me for my doctor doesn't know what I am talking about and looks at me like I have two heads.  Should I have a dye test to see if the vaginal opening and the anal cavity are somehow connected?

See a gi doctor.  He can do the tests.  I am suprised that your doctor didn't recommend seeing one.
