Fluid In Stomach?

by MarkAews, Jan 20, 2002 12:00AM
Is it normal to wake up in the morning with fluid
( not sure what kind ) in the stomach?
Even if i go to bed at night and there's nothing in there,
i wake up with fluid in there in the morning.
Is this water retention?
whats causing this?
Thanks!

Two questions for you:
Are you talking about fluid in your abdomen? (Not inside the stomach itself-----outside of the stomach) (Just under your skin)?
Do you have any liver problems?

Hi:

I agree with imkindly as to your description of fluid in the stomach.  The fluid in my stomach was found through an upper GI series, which can be caused by numerous things.  Can you please describe further?

Hey guys,

How would i tell if it was in the stomach or in the abdomen?
Im pretty sure it is the stomach because its in the upper left side and if i push it down a bit or slosh it around, it makes loud fluid sounds.
I think if it was in the abdomen it would be all around wouldnt it?

Thanks.

Hi:

I'm curious, based on what you say, if you run into heartburn, acid reflux, etc?????  I'm curious if it's an acid buildup.... just a thought.....

Nope...
i've never had acid reflux at all... no heartburn or anything.
Its almost like its just water..
though i can't pinpoint the liquid, cause i can't actually see it.
I know its probably not in the abdomen cause i'd feel it all over and i'd probably have a distended abdomen.
Its just in the upper left side, where the stomach is.
Just... trapped fluid....

See your Doctor. They can feel around listening for sounds in your abdomen. An ultrasound might help. Hope you find out soon.
