frequently every day. Why? and how can it be overcome? I tried taking Beano a few years ago. It seemed to help initially, but later was of no help. I feel that intaking 15+ grams
. I often eat whole wheat double fiber bread, turkey meat, fat free yogurt, fresh fruit, leafy salad and almonds. I also take daily vitamines, calicum, vit.-d, omega and green tea tablets. Please help me.
Hmmmm. Sometimes vitamin and mineral supplements can cause the bowels to be a little sluggish, and if waste sits in the intestines too long, it'll give you gas
. Even tho you have "practically daily bowel movement," it could be some waste is hanging on, especially on the days you don't go. So, you might want to try a different brand of supplement. Also, be sure to drink about five glasses of water every day as a habit, it helps all that fiber go thru better. In addition, if you drink carbonated sodas, do not drink a store brand; rather drink a name-brand soda, becuz the cheap ones can sometimes stir up gas
. Like if you eat melon, eat it just BEFORE a meal. And also, if you eat fresh fruits from the store, when they start to go bad, they can give you gas. For example, whole blueberries are great for the digestion, but they are big gas-producers after about three days in the frig.
I suppose you could go through a process of elimination of the different extra things you take, like start with the omega stuff first. Just don't take it for about four or five days, and see if your gas gets better. If not, put it back in, and try eliminating the green tea tablets, and so forth. ALSO, you can get gas if you only eat, say, twice a day...or if you eat a very large meal and two very small ones, you can get gas, so adjust how much and how often you eat, so you keep a fairly steady amount of food processing in your system thruout the day, instead of downloading a whole lot after a period of no food.
Sometimes your body pH can be off and perhaps you are a little acidic for some reason. You can take an ordinary alka seltzer when you get that gassy feeling, and it should help release gas in the tummy and neutralize your pH. Next time you go to the doc, you can ask him to check your pH level, and also of course review with him your gas situation and see what he says about it as relates to your diet and to your health in general.
