Fundiplication Surgery

I have severe GERD with a hiatal hernia. My surgeon said the post op problems could be: (1) I'll have to eat small amounts of soft foods the rest of my life, (2) I might have diarrea (diarrhea) the rest of my life and (3) I might have to take meds for the GERD later in life. Has anyone had this surgery and what were the results?
