WHAT KIND OF TREATMENT IS THERE, IF ANY, FOR GALL BLADDER SLUDGE? I HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT BUT HAVE BEEN HAVING ALOT OF PROBLEMS AND THE SONOGRAM, ACCORDING TO MY DOCTOR, WAS SLUDGE IN THE GALL BLADDER. CAN THIS BE A PROBLEM AND WOULD IT HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH A HIGH PLATELET COUNT IN MY BLOOD TEST?
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED GREATLY.....MY DOCTORS DOES NOT EXPLAIN THINGS TO ME WHERE I CAN UNDERSTAND HIM.

THANK YOU

Have sludge in your gallbladder is a good indication it isn't functioning properly. If your have pain - you might ask to have a hida scan with ejection fraction. This test will show how well your gallbladder is contracting (functioning) If it is 40% or less Drs usually like to remove them.

If you do have to have your gallbladder removed it is not a big deal.  I know some people have complications but I had mine removed 3 weeks ago and feel fine.  I was pretty sore the first 4 days and each day got better.  I have read on this forum of many people having their gallbladder removed because of sludge.
good luck

There is an alternative to having your gallbladder removed when you have sludge.  Ask your doctor about Actigall.  It is a medication that will think your bile out.  It takes about 4 weeks of taking it every day before you notice real relief, but it DOES work.  Best of luck to you.
