As long as I take it the GP stays away--the rare times it comes back, I have gotten lazy and stopped the magnesium or have taken too many NSAIDs. I take 400mg of NC magnesium powder---you add it to hot water and it is highly absorbable---PLUS prevents constipation. I take it in two 200 mg doses--one in am and one in pm
.
If you decide to try it---start very slowly and build up. Because it is in a liquid form it can be absorbed during a GP attack---but start with a very small dose at first to let your body get used to it--as it WILL get things moving again. It takes about a month to really get the magnesium into your tissues and cells, so be patient---I did notice a difference the first week on it.
Limit NSAIDs such as ADVIL--they are what really trigger GP for me.
LOTS of focus on supplementation with vitamins and juicing. If I was having a GP attack, I would juice up veggies and dilute with water so I could both tolerate it and get that fresh highly- concentrated nutrition into me. Lots of potassium rich foods such as bananas.
Protein---while having an attack, I would juice up/purify tuna, eggs, chicken, beef (not fatty
, or any liquid I could tolerate so I could get it into my system as a liquid protein. This is if I couldn't eat solids.
Omega-3 Fish oils---I take 2,000 a day. I know they are oily and you may not be able to take them during an attack, but try to experiment with them as they are SO beneficial to getting the nerves and muscles working.
Abdominal exercises that focused getting the blood and circulation to that area---it sometimes worked like jump-starting a battery.
If you are in a severe attack, and none of the current meds are working ask your doctor to try Bethanechol Chloride---my doc said it worked better for GP than anything he'd ever used and was very safe. Sometime it goes under the name of Urecholine. It should be a yellow tablet that is scored.
I am now fully cured of GP and have not had a full attack it 10 years--only one minor one when I quit the magnesium and took too many NSAIDs, so I hope this info gives some hope and encouragement."
Wow! How hopeful you have made me! Were you ever on Reglan? I have been on it for a week & I have been very "jittery". Hate it but my docs says that it is my only hope. When did you start the Magnesium? Where do you buy it? Where do you get the Bethanechol Chloride? Is it a prescription?
