Gall Bladder Surgery and Getting my tubes tied ..

Hiya, I am 32 mother of three. This is my question. I have an appointment later this month with a surgeon to see about getting my gallbladder removed. I would really like to be able to have the surgery done by laser. However about 8 years ago I had my tubes tied and I was wondering if the scar tissue in and around my belly button are going to be a problem.  So I would then have to have the "open" surgery. Thank you for your time :)

Hi there are 3 types of gallbladder surgery I know of.
#1  is the larascopic with 4 incisions.  One is at the base of your belly button, one under your breasts diaphragm area, and 2 on the side close to each other.
#2 is the larascopic with one incision in your belly button area
#3 is the open method.

I had #1 and they pulled my gallbladder out through my belly button incision.  Doc said he could do the #2 method on me but he had only done 10 since it was a new procedure last year.  I chose the other since he had only done 10 of these and he said it was hard to get all the instruments in that one hole.

I would ask your surgeon about this.  He may have a little trouble getting through but he should be able to tell you his opinion.

They wouldn't be going thru your belly button for this, and there would only be two entry areas.  But I would ask your doctor, he would know best.
