Gall Bladder Surgery?

I was just dianosed with gallstones, the ultrasound showed 1 gallstone 1.1 cm in gall bladder neck and that the gall bladder was distended. The dianosis came after a trip to the emergency room for extreme abdominal pain. I have been having problems but did not know what they were caused from, ie; bloating, stomach pain, back pain, diarrhea, nausea, gas, and gurgling sounds coming from my stomach that would wake me up. The doctor has recommended gall bladder removal. My question is should I get further testing before having it removed or do these symptoms all sound consistant with the diagnosis?

have the dr. do a hida scan, you check this out on line. i had one done and it showed my gallbladder was functioning a 6%, when normal is over 35-50%. i had had right side pain,
diarrhea, bloating, belching, epigastric discomfort. most of tht has gone away after my lap chole but unfortunately i still have the chronic side ache. which i plan to have checked out soon. take care

Did anyone else's diagnoses mention that the gall bladder was distended? I do not see that anyone else mentions this. Is it typical to have a distended gall bladder during an attack?

Dee, you don't have much choice since one of the stones is in the neck of the gallbladder. It's obstructing and that's not going to change and can result in severe long-term problems.

I agree, those symptoms are definately consistent with the diagnosis and gall bladder disease if left on it's own, doesn't get better. I let mine go for a while and some stones got out and damaged my Pancreas and biliary duct. That is something you definately don't want to happen. Good luck.
