Gall Stones....Surgery Necessary??

I was just diagnosed with gall stones and was referred to a surgeon for removal of my gall bladder. I didn't think a thing of it until I started doing research. Is it really a necessary procedure? Is there a way to avoid having it removed without having the severely painful attacks? What about these cleanses I've been hearing about? Help!! I'd like to avoid surgery, if at all possible!!

If you have had repeated attacks of GB pain or stones you should probably not delay surgery.  The GB cleanses are not going to help your GB.  If you have spoken to your dr and he thinks you do need to have surgery then a delay can possibly cause serious issues. You could develop inflammation or serious infection of the gallbladder, bile ducts, or pancreas and this is life threatening.  Please talk to your dr to determine if he believes if you wait then you would be a high risk for these things.   If you have no insurance see if you can work a payment plan with the hospital and dr.

The surgery is worth it!!! I had stones and daily pain.  My surgery was Jan 25th, laprascopic.  I had some surgical pain, but only required advil and rest.  By the end of the first week I had barely any pain... It's been 1 month and my incisions are all healed, and best of all my pain that I lived with for 3 years is gone!!  Just get the surgery over and done with!!

I'm going on the gall stone cleanse this weekend. It involves drinking a pint of olive oil and a cup of fresh lemon juice in small amounts until gone. A trusted friend of mine tried it and recommends it highly. Wish me luck, I don't want surgery.

Woke up one night a few weeks ago with such a pain in my chest...it felt like something substantial moving around...like two stones pushing pass each other...I don't know how else to explain the sensation. It clicked in my head that the heartburn, bloating and discomfort I'd been feeling for the last few seeks were gall stones. Indigestion and pain has been getting worse.  So, before I go in for surgery, let's see how this goes. Especially since I don't have insurance and can't afford to pay for surgery.

My sister and my mother both had their gall bladders removed. Maybe I won't have too.. Wish me luck..

My natural health practitioner told me to use Hydrangia, a liquid herbal supplement you can get at a good health food store. She said to take 10 drops, 5-6 times per day and it would help to reduce the size of the stones. (I have some ordered right now)
Also, make a hot pack of castor oil (search web for instructions) to reduce the pain during an attack. It really helps.
1 T of extra virgin olive oil mixed with 1 T lemon juice is to be taken before bed. This will gradually help eliminate the stones without the big flush.
