Hi,
I read all about gallbladder in  this forum after I posted my question.I am  getting nervous and feel to stay without removal of that. I read that even after removal, the pain may continue or may have  something else.
Pl. suggest me, do I go for surgery or stay as it is .

I've been told I need my gallbladder out and have been doing research on the net.  There are comments made here that certainly have "scared" me.  But I realized that the people who get their gallbladders removed and have NO PROBLEMS never come here nor take the time to post here.  One set of numbers I found says 500,000 people a year get their gallbladder removed. The most cited side effect I find is those without their gallbladder will often have to use the bathroom soon after eating a spicy meal.  My doctor told me that can be controlled with medicine.
Ask around I found out my 104 year old grandma had hers out 15 years ago and hasn't had any problems.  My best friend from high school says there is no problems, my sister-in-law had hers removed and her only problems is the spicy food trip to the bathroom.
If your gallbladder is operating at 9% you don't have much to decided except do you want to live like you currently are or do you want to chance some of the side effects (which by my research appear to affect only a small number).  Research it yourself.  Get a second or third opinion.  Make your decision.  AND REMEMBER if you do have it removed, come back here and post you results for those who will come after you.

I was one of the many who had problems when I had my gall bladder removed.  However, now they are discovering that it might not have been my gall bladder in the first place that was giving me so much trouble.  My only advice to you is to make sure your doctors have run any necessary tests to confirm it is indeed your gall bladder.  I have several friends who had their gall bladders removed without any problems.  I'm convinced, if you have your gallbladder removed and that was the problem, then you will be just fine.  If your gall bladder was not the root of the problem, then you will be visiting this forum on a regular basis.  Take care and best of luck to you both.

I agree with JC Hank.  I am the only person I know who had trouble after the surgery; I know sooo many people who had it out and did not have one bit of trouble afterward.  In fact, some of them even go so far as to say that they were back to a completely normal diet (fat included) within a week of having it done (which is definitely not recommended!).  And the trouble I had was gone in a few weeks (had alot of burning and discomfort, bathroom issues, etc.)

Definitely make sure you get all the necessary tests and go for several opinions if you want beforehand and I'm sure you will feel much better/more comfortable with whatever decision you make.  Good luck and let us know what happens!
