Gallbladder Removed - Nausea and pain continue

I had my gallbladder removed over 2 months ago.  No stones on ultrasound or CAT scan. Hida scan shows ejection fraction was 19%.  Prior to surgery, besides pain and nausea, had low grade fever, normally high bp was very low.

I was sore from surgery, but otherwise fine.  Nausea started up again and now the pain under right ribs and back has returned with a vengence.

What are the possibilities?

Thanks for the info.  My PCP is sending me to a Gastro dr.  PCP mentioned something about a "retained stone" in the bile duct.  I thought that was odd, since all the tests i had showed no stones.  I've cut out fat, but it doesn't work, and I'm tired of grilled chicken!  I was wondering about the spincter of oddi thing.  Something had to make my gallbladder go bad.  Pathology report said chronic cholecystitis.

I'd give anything to be able to eat a cheeseburger and fries again!

It's possible you could be having a problem handling the digestion of fats after the surgery. Unfortunately, a lot of people do. You may want to consider following a low fat diet to see if it will be of help.

In addition, you need to talk to your doc about finding out whether sludge was found in the gallbladder during the surgery. If so, it's possible that some of the sludge may have escaped into the bile duct during surgery. That can sometimes happen and if it did, you may want to discuss with your doc about running and MRCP to see what's going on. Make sure you also have your liver and pancreatic enzyme levels checked via blood test. The blood test needs to be done within about 12 hours of a severe attack of pain. It can't be done at just 'anytime,' or the results might be invalid.
