Gallbladder attacks - Pain on left and right side of body - Is this possible?

I was initially diagnosed with gallbladder disease about ten years ago via ultrasound and CT scans (gallbladder full of small stones). I was given a HIDA scan at the time which at the time indicated that my gallbladder was functioning properly and was advised to not have my gallbladder removed. Fast forward to today and I'm in a world of hurt. I was scheduled to have my gallbladder removed a number of months ago. I was having some typical gallbladder attack symptoms on my right side. It was also affecting my left side but not as intense in severity. My general surgeon said this was not due to gallbladder attacks as this should only affect my right side. As a result, my surgery was called off until 'they' could figure out what is going on. Nothing much has happened to determine an alternate cause and/or diagnosis by whoever 'they' are. My internal medicine specialist said I have Fibromyalgia and no other investigation was needed. I can feel pain in my gallbladder that is pulsing and burping which hardly seems like Fibromyalgia. I am having a horrible attack right now. Quite often it feels like glass shards are under my skin causing immense pain. I've gone to the Emergency Department three times in horrible pain. Ten to twelve hours later with just basic blood tests and I have been sent home with the advice to talk to my GP or general surgeon. I am in the midst of a very painful attack. If you aren't in imminent risk of dying, you are sent home regardless of how much pain you may be experiencing. If I approach my general surgeon again, I wanted to know if you can feel pain on your left and right side from gallbladder attacks? Any other advice is appreciated.

My pain was on the left side and was relieved by pressure on my back.  Only an imbecile would say that gallbladder pain could only be on the right.  It is not uncommon to have pain on the "wrong" side.  Did you have an ultrasound for stones?  I don't know if you are in the US, but it sounds like you need to see a different general surgeon.  Avoid CT scans - get an ultrasound.  HIDA scan needs to include CCK.  One treatment you could take on your own is an herb called Nigella sativa, which has the ability to dissolve stones, but it's not quick and if you have a dead gallbladder, an infection or large stones, you need surgery. Take your temperature and be able to report that.  Report vomiting and how often.
