Gallbladder attacks

I have had gallbladder attacks without gallstones for 16 years. Recently the pain and attacks have become more frequent so my doctor scheduled a hida scan with cck. The results showed my gallbladder excretes at a 9% rate and recommended removal. Is surgery my only option or is there something else I can do to fix its function?

I have also had a test that showed my stomach empties at a slower rate (120 minutes) than the normal (90 minutes). If I have my gallbladder removed will this cause more problems for my stomach?

With that low of an ejection fraction, I would get rid of the darn thing.  I've had gb surgery, and it really isn't all that bad.  Most people have no further trouble following surgery.  Some people experience "bile salt diarrhea" for a time afterward, due to the fact that the bile from the liver now has a straight hiway to the small intestine. It usually goes away after some time as the body adjusts to the increased bile.  I never had that problem.  Ask your doc about it, but I suspect you will feel a whole lot better with the gallbladder removed.
