Gallbladder removed last month, was doing great, but now SICK. Please help

Hi.  I am a 32 yr. old female.  Had gallbladder removed 5/4 after having chronic indigestion, diarhea (diarrhea), nausea, and pain in right side.  Gallbladder ultrasound showed sludge and small stones.  Had a very succesfull GB removal.  Didn't have one single symptom after surgery and have been doing great until this past Sat. (6/8) Don't know if it was something I ate or what, but it started with diarhea (diarrhea) sat. night, (had raisin bran for breakfast and ate a small corn on the cob for lunch) then on Sunday I was hungry at lunch and ate turkey sand. w/cheeze nips.  About 20-30 mins after eating I got heartburn/indigestion nausea that wouldn't go away.  Took a Prevacid.  Didn't help. Was up all sunday night with burning pain in my chest.  Took  Prevacid Mon a.m.  Mon. afternoon started having a dull ache in my lower right side under rib cage and the burning pains in my chest radiated over to my right shoulder blade.  Went back to surgeon yesterday.  He didn't know what it was.  Said to wait a week and see if I still had symptoms!!  Made me so MAD.  Today I am having constant indigestion (even with being on the Prevacid since Sun. afternoon ..it is now Wed.) and the pain in right side comes and goes.  I also have this weird bitter taste in my mouth.  Surgeon didn't seem to think it was a stone in the bile duct since I wasn't "yellow".  Anybody experience this problem after GB removal?  It just seems weird that I was doing fantastic (eating what I wanted and everything) and then one afternoon it was like someone flipped a switch and I'm back to having same symptoms before the GB was remove

That is scary.  I had my gallbladder out 17 days ago.  I am a bit sore but feeling great otherwise.  It really does sound like a stone in the duct from what I have read.  Insist that he does further testing to see what it is.  You shouldnt have to put up with the pain and feeling lousy.  I hope I dont have a relapse like you.   Lots of luck

do you think the diarrea (diarrhea) could be caused from the medication you may be on?  Are you on anything?

Am taking Prevacid (but was not taking it when the diarhea (diarrhea) started Sat. afternoon. Started the Prevacid on Sunday afternoon. So had diarhea (diarrhea) beforehand.). Also on birth control, but have been on that a month since surgery with no problems.  I don't think this is medicinal related.

I had my gallbaldder removed 9/27/00 and have had nothing but problems digesting some kinds of food. Garlic, spicy foods, dairy/milk products and corn are the worst. I also have nausea and indegestion. I thought it was my imagination because everyone I know who had their gallbladders removed swear it was a miracle cure. I don't have as much stomach problems as before the surgery but it still is very annoying. I have however been doing some research on gallstones & gallbladder problems and have found out that the problem could be caused by stones in the liver. Or perhaps the liver is also a bit sluggish. Anyone else have any ideas?

I am a healthy 39 year old feamle and I have had a chronic pain in the upper to center part of my abdomen for 6 months now. My gallbladder was removed April 4 and that went fine but the pain was still there. I have had every test you can imagine for the pancreas, liver, and duodenum and after constant persistance the doctor finally gave me an MRI. I understand your frustration because I am fed up with the doctors uncaring attitiude also. I have been feeling nausated for the entire 6 months with no fever, no jaundice, or any of the symptoms you are suppose to have. They finally found out with the MRI that I have a stricture in my bile duct. What you are descibing is exactly what I have been thru. The patient knows nothing but the doctor knows it all.HA! Go to Jeeves and look up bile duct blockage and see if your symptoms relate and tell your doctor what you find. He won't like it but TOUGH. Good Luck to you and get bitchy if you have to, it's your body.

Hello.  I too had my gallbladder removed on April 29th and had a very tough recovery during the two weeks after my surgery.   I was feeling better after that but now I am experiencing constant nauseousness again and how I felt prior to having the surgery.   I still have back pain as well as pain under my ribcage.   I did have an endoscopy 2wks after the surgery which showed "marked" inflammation in my stomach and to this day I never pursued that result.   I do not know what to do but certainly do not want to feel like this anymore.   During the first bouts of recurring pain after the surgery I was told to have an ERCP measuring the Sphincter of Oddi but a second GI specialist told me not to go for the test.   I'm just wondering if I should go for this test now.   Any insight would be helpful.

I had my gallbladder removed in 1997 and have suffered from diarrhea ever since.i have learned that dairy products upset me more than other foods. At one time it was almost impossible to eat out.I am now aware of most of the foods that upset my stomach and try to avoid eating them.i never had any problems with dairy before the removal of my gallbladder.I was eating mostly everything, which I am sure is the reason I developed stones in the first place.
