Gallstones 6 Mths not removed

I found out back in April that I have Gallstones and they suggested seeing a surgeon to have them removed.  I have not felt any of the pain, or had an "attack" since then! Is it still necessary to have them removed,  may I have passed them without knowing!?!?

Kinda depends which tests they did.  If they know you have a lot of larger stones that can cause trouble they tend to recommend removal.  Since you are not having issues you have time to get some second and third opinions.

Now you need to watch this very closely no symptoms does not mean no problems.  The very first clue I had was jaundice I never even had a little pain.  Lucky it turned out to be just a 1cm stone in the common bile duct and a massive infection. ERCP to remove the stone and a second ERCP to put in stents to help drain infection.  A week or so in the hospital and even getting pancreatitis which should have hurt like hell I still felt fine.

So with my gallbadder loaded with stones not even a second thought to remove it.   They managed to remove it laproscopically but it took over 3 hrs,  Looks like it had gotten infected/inflamed many times in the past and I didn't know it.  Surgeon said it was one of the hardest ones he has ever done.

Not tring to scare you into removing it but if you get multiple doctors telling you to have it removed I would follow their advice even if you feel well.

Hm...im assuming if you hadnt had any pain it would be ok...many ppl have gallstones without ever knowing because they never have any attacks. If you were to get an attack i would suggest getting them out. When i had mine out i was told if you have an attack your gonna end up more than likely having another one sooner or later.
