Gallstones in ultrasound, not in ct scan

by Gessy878, Sep 08, 2009 10:14PM
I had a tenderness which developed to a pain in my upper right side under ribs waiting till monday and saw a family dr which did an ultrasound, he saw gallstone, advised me if pain continued to go to er. I went in yesterday, after sepnding the whole day there ( I have no insurance, so paid out of pocket) the dr in er said that nothing comes up in ct scan and that probably pulled muscle. I went back today to the dr had another ultrasounf and he says def have gallstone. What do I do, the pain has eased up but still tender to touch. Also I have a vacation in 2 weeks, I am concerned that this might occur during, anyone have any suggestions? Can the er just turn you away like that without insurance if you know you do have a stone and in pain? Should I still be tender after 2 days or does it ease up at all? Should I be really concerned or just eat better and go to vaca and then come back and get more attention to matter?

I would take care of the matter now so that you can enjoy you vacation and not worry anout being in pain.  I would go to a GI Specialist and see about having your Gallbladder removed.  They can do it Laparscopically and it is a really quick recovery.  I went on Vacation 10 days after having mine removed.  They say once you have one stone that you are more likely to get more so you should probably talk to a GI specialist about getting removed.  I know that you do not have insurance but you not being in pain is worth it.  The only problem is once your Gallbladder is removed most people tend to have Diarrhea on a daily basis so you really have to eat a low fat diet.  I am not a doctor but I hope this helps!
