Gas and Diarrhea in mornings

by Pro, Nov 04, 2001 12:00AM
Almost all of the time, about 45 minutes to an hour after I wake up in the morning, I will get terrible gas pains (On the floor type gas pains) and usually Diarrhea follows shortly.

This keeps me from going to work and class sometimes and I have found no way to prevent it. I dont even know what it could be?
Any ideas? Thanks.

Try increasing your fiber intake by 25-25 grams.  It's also possible that you suffer from IBS and the fiber would help this.  If the fiber increase doesn't help, you should probably seek advise from your doctor.

What does IBS involve? Is it more of a mental problem (Ie anxiety) or is it actually something physical?

Doesnt fiber produce more gas?

Some of the other problems I forgot to mention is that I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep. It is almost impossible sometimes. Also, at night, my stomach is growling and lower ab making noises like crazy (sometimes during the day as well).

yes fiber does cause additional gas but jarbet is wright, it is recomended for ibs patient .if your stools are watery or thin it would help in that area .also as was said you may want to see a doctor (gastro/digestive specialest)just to make sure it is nothing serious.ibs and fibroidmyalgia can mimic other digestive problems that is why it is always better to go to the gastro doc and be sure as to what you are dealing with.god bless
