You may benefit from taking simethicone but please check with your health care professional first. It is available over the counter in several brands name (Gas X, etc.) You want to make sure that the principal ingredient is simethicone and not something like Mylanta which has other ingredients as well. Simethicone breaks up the tiny gas bubbles that form in your digestive track. It is generally well-tolerated without horrible side-effects. As I mentioned, please check with your doctor if this is appropriate for you and especially since your stool is dark in color. It may be nothing to worry about but you should have your doctor send a stool sample for analysis. Try adding some probiotics to your diet either in pill form or yoghurt. The good bacteria will help with the digestion and the breakdown of food and the simethicone will help dissolve the gas bubbles. Hope you feel better.
