Gastric Bypass for reflux after 3 failed nissan fundoplications

I have had three nissan fundoplications for my gerd and reflux, the last was an open October 2010. It has now failed as well as the first two. My surgeon is now calling for a gastric bypass for the reflux. Has anyone had that for their reflux and how was the recovery and did it work. I am 60 and about 40 pounds overweight, had my thyroid removed, gall bladder removed, had back surgery, neck surgery with plate, otherwise for the reflux I am in good health. That last surgery which was the open took me a month to recover from it. Don't want to go through some hard surgery again. Thanks.
