Gastric Emptying

Has anyone else experienced something similar to this: Sometimes when I eat, I stand up to leave the table and experience a terribe sharp pain in my upper stomach. It prevents me from standing up straight. As soon as I sit back down, the pain resolves. My GI doc says that is a symptom of delay gastric emptying.  Do you all agree?

As someone who experiences pain similar to this, I'm inclined to agree. However, if that's suspected then I recommend you ask for a gastric emptying exam. (And if you haven't already, a visit to a good gastroenterologist.) This will show you the level of gastric emptying and will determine whether something like Reglan might help. In addition to gastric emptying issues, however, this could also indicate problems with heartburn (not too high a level) and possibly even pancreatic issues. But again, I'm inclined to agree with your doctor. Get the tests done.
