ulcer back in 2003 after having a scope done. Since then, I have had 5 scopes done and now have a total of 3 ulcers (one bleeding back in November of 2006). Biopsies were done and none are malignant
acid test and the results came back that my body produces too much.
After being on Nexium since November of 2006, I again started to have stomach issues and have to go in for another scope on Wednesday.
I have been on Prevacid, Prilosec, Zantac (before it was over the counter), Aciphex and am currently on Nexium. I was also put on Carafate 4 times a day but was decreased to twice a day due to my ulcers being 90% healed and then take off Carafate completely.
I am at wits end as to what to do and what to take anymore. Everytime my stomach starts to act up and I go in for a scope, I have a new ulcer and one of the existing ones is opened back up again. I inquired about having the ulcers removed but the doctor said that is the very last option because they have to remove parts of your stomach and in my condition with my body producing too much gastric
acid, new ulcers would just form in another part of the stomach.
Its obvious medications are not helping me after taking them for a period of time. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm tired of dealing with stomach ulcers.
Basicaly same problem, been on Nexium 80mg for last few months, had 6th Edoscopy on 9 Nov. 09. Biopsy`s all clear.
Will keep you posted on any new treatment I receive.
Prescribed SUCRALFATE (Antepsin ) with the Nexium, did not agree with me,side effects were stomach ache and indigestion.
Could be OK for you!
My stomach problems for the past 30 years are like yours but my ulcer at the duodena never showed up by the time I got in for the scope. The pain was so bad that i had to do something to stop it. I used loperamide to slow things down along with the nexium that I take all the time.In order for me to have a vagatomy; I was told by a laperscopic surgen that I would have to show a ulcer on scope.I also have diverticulitis that become inflamed because of the excess acid.I am 65 years old and my condition is slowly killing me and taking away the quality of life that I should be having in my retirement. We are both looking for answers; God help us! That DR. you are going to now wants to keep you as a perment patient; find another DR.
